The Moon Saloon is "closed until further notice". Can't say that I am sad to see this place go.

Speaking of bridge closures/openings

I know it's not technically Phoenixville, but does anyone have a timeline/ETA on the re-opening of the bridge on Rt. 252 over the turnpike? It's such a pain to weave around trying to get to the Gateway Shopping Center from P-ville now.

Fire House?

Why has construction stopped on the new Fire House they were building? I pass it all the time on my way to Collegeville and even the construction trailer is gone and some of the pipes installed for the concrete pour have been knocked over (vandals?). Did something fall through? Just curious as there was a lot of talk about it when they first got started. Don't read the useless newspaper we have, so posting here instead.

Past Flooding Question

Couldn't really find a good spot to put this, so I'm dropping it in here.

During the flooding a couple of years ago, I was living in Pottstown in a house that was on the flood plain. Since then, I've married and am now renting an apartment in Phoenixville, but looking for a house to buy. I'd like to stay in Phoenixville and have found some places that I like, but do not want to go through what I want through in Pottstown again. I am really liking the neighborhoods...

Anybody know what the fireworks on the north side were about on Saturday 9/20?
Nothing in the local paper, but that's to be expected.
Talked to a number of people since, and no-one knows what it was about. In fact most didn't even know there were fireworks.
A couple of thousand dollars worth I'd say - laster a good 1/2 hour or more.
Who and why are the questions.
What = fireworks
Where = Friendship Field (?)

Vandalism

The vandalism situation at Morris Park has gotten out of control. A couple months ago fires were started on the platforms of the playground leaving big black melted spots. More recently the PAPA Lacrosse shed has been defaced with ketchup (twice!). In addition, earlier this week one of the trees that were planted around the park back in April was cut.

I have called the Rec Dept. and the Police Station to ask for inreased police traffic. Hopefully that will help. If you live in...

Gay Street Bridge

Well, it appears that the demolition of the Gay Street Bridge won't be happening until the Spring at the earliest. According to the article in today's Phoenix, it seems we are at least a month away from the start of the raising of the rail road tresses and installation of traffic lights, both of which must be completed before the bridge is brought down.
